Fairview

Vancouver's Fairview community located between Burrard St. (West) & Cambie St. (East) and between 16th Ave. (South) & False Creek (North) is a family oriented community in the heart of the city. A one time busy industrial area filled with shipyards and sawmills, it has been transformed into one of Vancouver's premier neighborhoods, complete with parks, schools, shops, and a seawall used for walking, jogging, biking, and rollerblading. Housing in this area consists of apartments, condos, duplexes, and coop's, some of which are rent controlled, allowing young families to live in the inner city without having to pay the normally outrageous inner city prices.

Residents of Fairview are just a short walk away from two very different shopping districts, Granville Island and South Granville. Granville Island is Fairview's crown jewel, once filled with warehouses and factories, it now consists of shops, studios, theatres, restaurants, and the world famous Granville Island Public Market. South Granville on the other hand is an upscale area filled with boutique shopping, independent art galleries, and coffee shops. Both of these areas are easily accessible by public transportation, and Granville Island is serviced by two different water taxi's that have numerous pick up and drop off points along the north and south side of False Creek.
