Arbutus Ridge
Being one of Vancouver's safest neighborhoods, Arbutus Ridge is an ideal place to raise a family. With many first class schools such as; Carnarvon & Trafalgar for Kindergarten through grade 7 and Prince of Wales & Magee for grades 8 through 12, as well as the prestigious Crofton House, a private school for girls. Arbutus Ridge also has many lush green parks to enjoy as well as two fully equipped community centers, Dunbar and Kerrisdale. So whether rain or shine you can always find an activity that suits you or the entire family.
The main reason attributed to the growth of Arbutus Ridge was the implementation in 1905 of a streetcar line that ran from Vancouver to Steveston, which was run by the B.C. Electric Railway. Before this line was introduced the area was mainly unreachable and therefore unlivable. This area is home to one of Vancouver's oldest churches, built in 1913, St. Mary's Kerrisdale, is an Anglican church which has been given Heritage Status by the City of Vancouver. Arbutus Ridge is home to some of Vancouver's oldest and biggest homes, of course there are many new homes as well, which makes this neighborhood a unique blend of the old and the new.
